Today, Glass for Europe is virtually in Dusseldorf for the “The Glass Associations Summit”, an event hosted by GlassWorldwide as part of the 2020 edition of GlassTec, the leading trade fair for the global glass industry.
Luca Oggianu, Advocacy and Communication Advisor at Glass for Europe, joined colleagues from AIGMF (India sub-continent), BV Glas (Germany), Chinese Ceramic Society (China) and NGA (USA) to discuss prevailing market conditions in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Glass for Europe’s presentation illustrated the health crisis effect on the European flat glass market. During the first semester of 2020, the impact on EU economies has varied across countries. However, as the health crisis is not over, uncertainties remain for the future. In his speech, Luca Oggianu stressed the fact that EU countries need to be ready to massively invest in the relaunch of the economy and investments should target economic activities accelerating climate change mitigation. In this context, building renovation and window replacement are pivotal to increase energy savings. “Building renovation is a flagship of the European Green Deal. What is important at this moment in time is that Member States prioritize building renovation and windows retrofitting in their National Recovery and Resilience plans”, concluded Luca Oggianu.
