Together with other 149 sector Associations, Glass for Europe calls for an ambitious and long-term EU industrial strategy to allow Europe to remain a hub for a leading, smart, innovative and sustainable industry and to make sure industry continues delivering growth and jobs for Europe’s citizens.
To Glass for Europe, a future EU industrial strategy should look into ways of supporting industrial value chains of strategic importance to Europe and its ambitions. This is the case for instance of industries providing decarbonisation-enabling materials, such as flat glass, which provide unique solutions to the building and transport sectors.
Bertrand Cazes, Secretary General of Glass for Europe declared: ‘With the transition towards a climate-neutral economy, new ambitions in terms of circularity, an open and dynamic trade policy, it will be essential that an EU industrial strategy is conceived to bring coherence and to provide solutions. It’s high time to move from words to action.’
