Glass for Europe engages comprehensively in parliamentary hearings, panel discussions, conferences and meetings with Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament and other EU officials to ensure that the flat glass industry's messages are heard.
|
Topics covered in these meetings include the future climate policy, the housing and construction strategy, increased recycling, EU law on the permitting of industrial installations, and growing trade concerns, to name a few.
|

Now that the policy impetus has been provided by the reshuffling of EU institutions, the European Commission is busy devising the concrete measures that will be put forward at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. This applies to all policy priorities. This is why all topics are being addressed simultaneously, making it the perfect time to convey our sector's messages.
|
Glass for Europe's intense activity is made possible thanks to a dedicated team and engaged members. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Chairman, Davide Cappellino, for making himself available for the highest-level meetings, and to our Policy Managers for their tireless efforts in creating advocacy opportunities. I would also like to thank all the members of the Glass for Europe committees who contribute to the less visible yet equally critical part of the work: analysing policy proposals, building consensus within the industry, and articulating policy requests.

As summer approaches, the number of engagements will decrease, but the preparatory work at Glass for Europe will continue. Our team is already busy working on positions for new policy proposals and modernised communication channels, as well as planning outreach opportunities for autumn.
|
We will also take time to recharge our batteries at some point during the summer. I hope you will too.
