The second meeting of Glass for Europe’s National Partners Group took place on 22 November, bringing together national glass and glazing associations.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to discuss the latest developments in key legislative files that have a direct impact on their activities. Discussions focused mostly on the recasts of the Energy Performance of Building and the Weights and Dimensions Directives as well as the Construction Product Regulation. National Partners regretted the lack of progress on the harmonisation of Energy Performance Certificates in the EU. New discussions will take place once final agreements have been reached on some of these texts to assess the progress and consider their implementation .
Following a presentation by the Association of Glass Nordic (AGN), participants exchanged views on the design and safety requirements for glass railings in their respective Member States. An overview of the situation in the EU will be compiled to continue the discussions.
Finally, the National Partners discussed the opportunities offered by the upcoming national and European elections. VGI-FIV presented the InDUfed Memorandum 2024 which has been prepared in view of the various elections that will take place in Belgium (federal, regional, European) next year. A strong focus was put on energy costs, recycling and the attractivity of sustainable products. Partners exchanged ideas to best communicate such key messages to policy makers and make sure the sector’s priorities are well identified and understood.
